Wildlife
A range of crops are grown including barley and oats (for feeding and littering the animals) as well as potatoes, carrots, leeks, onion, garlic, beetroot, and swedes. The lack of pesticides means that there is an abundance of wild weeds - an important food source for invertebrates and birds. As well as a range of birds of prey, guests can expect to see large numbers of garden birds in our diverse hedgerows as well as hares and small mammals that make their home across the farm. Those walking through our meadows will witness a large diversity of grasses and wild flowers not found in much pasture land across the country. All of these make Brynmawr a great place to stop, take notice, photograph and admire the wonder and beauty of the natural world.
